Soviet-built and heavily exported, it is also known as the Su-20 and Su-22. A capable ground-attack aircraft, the Fitter is often improperly used as an air-to-air fighter by some export customers (e.g. Libya). This is a poor choice because the Fitter is about as nimble as a tired slug. It sports an early manually-controlled swing-wing influenced by the F-111.
